Long River Tai Chi Circle

Long River Tai Chi Circle is the school of Wolfe Lowenthal, student of Cheng Man-ch'ing and author of the acclaimed:

  • "There are no Secrets"
  • "Gateway to the Miraculous"
  • "Like a Long River: Some Tai Chi Thoughts"

We practice the Professor's 'simplified' 37 posture Yang-style form. The three pillars of our study are Form, Push Hands, and Sword.

Gateway to the Miraculous

In Push Hands, rather than oppose the opponent's energy, yield to him, "giving him what he wants." On the psychological level, fear operates as a need to always be in control, of not trusting in the flow of events. It's a fundamental tightness that blocks the benefit of ch'i in our bodies and in our lives. We must give up our need to control in order to experience fullness, health and joy. Tai Chi doesn't just preach that truth, it gives us a living experience of it.
